Checked into the hotel for three night for Mardi Gras the price was outrageous for what we got. First the lock on the door didn't work. We told the front desk and they sent the maintenance man that only told us to wiggle the handle and it would be fine. Then once going into the room the heater was broken and we had a space heater, although it worked well again for the price we paid because of Mardi Gras rates it shouldn't have been a small space heater. The second day we were there I went to unlock the door and the door handle fell in my hand, again had to call someone to fix what should have been fixe in the first place. The linens were clean and the room was overall clean. The doorman was very polite and friendly and the front desk was ok. I was disappointed because I expected better service for the price we paid for because of Mardi Gras rates. The dining room area in the courtyard had thick dust on the ceiling fans also.

it was never mention that you would ge hit with $* fee per night. this is after you have booked and paid for your reservation. this really was a bomber and not mention at all. the breakfast was fantastic. our air condition was leaking onto the dingy carpet. had to request another room. the room was a hidden behind the wall, i was really disappointed with the $* but it just a motel. i wouldn't recommend it to no one.

Do not book a room at the Saint Louis Hotel using the hotel?s website. In early March I booked a room for four nights for the last weekend of Jazz Fest. I was billed immediately for over $1,100. In mid-March I called to cancel the room to swap it for a cheaper room that had become available through a cancellation by friends booked at the same hotel for Jazz Fest. The front desk told me that this was not possible as I had booked during a special event. I was transferred to the reservations manager who was extremely rude and refused to provide an adequate explanation concerning this special event. She hung up on me when I called later attempting to discuss the issue.

Repeated calls to the General Manager and Chief Financial Officer resulted in more refusals to refund my money using a different excuse. I am being denied, as according the hotel, I had opted for a 5% discount package that had a ?no refund non cancellable? policy associated with it if selected on the website. I absolutely did not check this option.

In early April, my friends cancelled their rooms in support of my dissatisfaction with the hotel?s behavior and without any problem as they had booked via the hotel?s telephone reservations office. So you?re OK if you phone and then cancel just do not book on line!

Please note that the dates and comments shown for a stay in April are invented so as to be able to progress to the comments you are reading. However, we did stay at the sister hotel last year with no problems. I still have not gotten a refund.

The doorman was absolutely fantastic as was the bartender. We came down for dinner - only to learn the restaurant is closed. The courtyard does have breakfast with the most attentive servers and manager I have ever had and the breakfast was fantastic. So if breakfast is the only meal you plan to eat there - then you will be happy. I never got a real answer as to how they served such a wonderful breakfast but is closed for other meals. The room was horrid. Carpets have obviously never been cleaned and rarely vacummed- stains - not sure what it was. Linens are very old - pillows were thin thin thin. We had to beg for the ironing board. No remote for the TV. If you enjoy old architecture then this is the place for you but ladies don't look up in the ladies restrooms (no tiles on the ceilings). Front desk staff was very unaccomodating but I can't say enough of the doorman - he was fantastic. The second day we went to breakfast in the courtyard and when we got back to our rooms they were made up - and a dirty thong was left on the gentlemans suitcase...
We are well traveled middle aged couples who have traveled a great deal and stayed in 5 star hotels and the average hotel. We were all VERY disappointed. Loved the location for walking and enjoying the city but I think that when we return for our next visit we will probably stay elsewhere as it is hard to stay at a hotel that is not clean with so many other available. I asked several employees if they were going to remodel as I really loved the location - no one knew.

The St. Louis is raved by them as the best courtyard in the French Quarter. Don't book this hotel is you are wanting to experience the courtyard. I was there 3 nights, and there were weddings in the courtyard for 2 of those nights. Both with LOUD music which echos in the courtyard.
I read their ammenities, and they listed something about nice pillows. Well, the pillows were flat as a pancake. The sheets were not of the best quality. Bedding was a big flop.
The shower head shot water over the shower curtin, and wet the toilet, soaking my toiletrie bag. I had to cover it with a towel to keep it dry.
I don't think I will be back to this hotel anytime soon. It was a waste of my weekend staying there. BEWARE...!
